Strengthen your self image

Now that you have improve yourself to a better person , at least good enough for others to see ;p

What should I do next?

Well, start treating others with respect.
Extend courtesy.
Show consideration.
Be kind.
Know yourself and how you’d feel if you were in the same situation and required assistance from someone else.
Whenever you feel tempted to criticize another person-- today, tomorrow, or next week-- realize that criticisms are like homing pigeons, they always come back to peck you.
And remember, whenever you are not able to say something good, just don't say anything ;p

Take charge of your life

Take charge of your life.

Knowing what you want to achieve, and setting out to fulfill even a minor goal leads you down the right road to a life filled with successes. Having the courage to go for your goals requires you to act from a position of strength. And in order to achieve your desired result, your goal must be worthy. Do not become discouraged when a specific goal isn’t successful. It takes lots of practice to get it right. The important point is that you acted.

Conrad Hilton
Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit.

Once you are able to fully take charge of your own life, you will be ready to learn the basic principles of leadership. Now, are you ready???

Self confidence

There's lots of theory about leadership.
But it is always good to lead oneself first before leading anyone
Making one self a high quality person that anyone or at least a group of people can admire is a good start. So i think it's good to learn about having self confidence also.

Ray Kroc
The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves.

I am sure everyone will agree that you cannot achieve much in life without a good deal of self confidence. A state of inner confidence is only achieved through a balanced mixture of high self-esteem, realistic belief in yourself, a good measure of self-respect and an accurate positive self-image.

The way you feel about yourself, how you see yourself and believe others see you, is a key issue in how you live your life. It is the foundation upon which you build your successes ur. By developing your self-confidence and belief in yourself you will be enable to recognize and take advantage of more of the opportunities that are presented to you but until now have gone unnoticed. You will also have the strength and inner belief that is essential in overcoming the inevitable pitfalls and obstacles that life throws at you. By developing this aspect of your personality you can achieve, what may appear now to be, impossible goals. For each time you put your new found confidence to the test and discover that you are a winner, you will strengthen it immeasurably and move forward in your own personal development a greater speed than you can imagine.

Your belief in yourself will grow with each new challenge until you begin to see challenges, not only through the eyes of a person who believes in themselves but also, as someone who knows they can achieve anything - because you begin to see yourself as a person who has the confidence in their abilities to find a way to do it!

When Hannibal told his generals he wanted to cross the Alps, with about 38,000 infantry, 8,000 cavalry, and 37 war elephants, to reach Italy and attack Rome the replies were unanimous, “It can’t be done!”. Hannibal’s reply to this is now the now famous quote, “We will find a way or we will make one!” Such was the confidence he had in his own abilities.

Here are some points that will help you develop a similar level of self-confidence:

As best you can, stop judging yourself. There are numerous people in the world who will jump at the chance to do that for you. Be gentle with yourself and recognize that your mistakes are merely learning opportunities. Keep in mind that your words have power. They direct your thinking. When you speak in a certain way you begin to formulate ideas and beliefs which are in harmony with the words you are using. These beliefs in turn have a major impact on the action you take and the way you conduct yourself throughout your life. So choose words that uplift you, encourage you and strengthen you and go easy on yourself when you make a mistake. Recognize what you have to learn from it and move on.

Seek out the company of people you want to emulate.
Look for self-confident people to mirror.
Watch the way the walk and how they talk.
Put yourself in positive environments as much as you can.
Your environment and the people around you dramatically affect your level of confidence whether you realise it or not.
Immerse yourself in people who build you up but that are honest and forthright with you. These are the type of people who will show you where you can improve while also reinforcing that you can do it and that the job you have done thus far is great.

The quality of one person is affected by the quality of the people around her

They can help you work on your faults while praising you with each step forward you make. Negative people only pull you down and should be avoided. If someone tells you often enough that you can't do something you will begin to believe them and thus form a negative belief about yourself. Such people are toxic and must be avoided at all costs.

Be a person who is true to their word. Take action when you vow to take action. Follow through on your plans even if it initially looks like there is no way forward. That doesn’t mean being inflexible. Of course there will be times when you need to compromise and alter your goals and plans but always stay true to your vision. I promise you another way will present itself. If you give up you will seriously damage your confidence!

A key point to remember is that there is no such thing as failure - you only fail when you give up! If you keep on keeping on, trying different approaches and staying steadfast to your ideal, you will eventually succeed. The knock-on affect is that your confidence in yourself will grow and you will also have the added knowledge of what not to do. Failure is the greatest teacher but only if you learn from it and use it!

Feel the fear and do it anyway! If you stand up and face that thing that you are most afraid of and do it anyway very often the fear disappears. If it doesn’t the first it will the second, third or fourth. Doing this will prove to your subconscious mind that nothing bad did occur from taking that action.
For example you will find that talking to that person didn't make you stop breathing or giving a lecture didn't make you die, or walking across the bridge wasn’t life-threatening etc.!

Keep a diary of all your achievements not matter how small and don‘t let others ridicule you for it. You know what your fear is! Many times in life fail to acknowledge the progress we are making simply because 'we can't see the forest for the trees'. We get caught up in the big picture and don’t see the smaller gains that are actually getting us closer to our goal. Think of a time when you met someone you hadn't seen in years. Do you remember noticing how much they had changed? You could see it yet to their family, close friends and people who seen them everyday the changes would have been almost imperceptible! Take the time to write down every little gain you make.

Soon you will be able to read back over it and really see just how far you have come. Write down the fears you faced, how you faced them and obstacles you overcame. Explain how you felt before and how you felt after. This will help keep you motivated in times of internal struggle and show you just how far you have come in your journey to more self confidence.

Finally when you go to bed at night let your mind think of all the achievements you had during the day and week and month. No matter how small these achievements may seem give yourself credit for all of them. Upon waking in the morning visualize yourself for 5 or 10 minutes beaming with joy and confidence as the day unfolds and you will literally set yourself up for a successful day and incredible life!

And don't forget to make celebration on each succeess you made, either giving yourself a nice little gift or a day off in the spa!

Zig Ziglar
Remember, what you get by reaching your destination isn't nearly as important as what you become by reaching your goals - what you will become is the winner you were born to be!

Developing Leadership Within You

The Essence of Leadership is Character.

As we know some people have the "born leaders" talent. So they do not need to work hard to lead, but a little work still need to be done to reach to the top. Because if she doesn't learn the skills, well that would be such a waste of talent.

But to those who doesn't have it, no need to worry.
The skills can be learned and practiced.

Let's start!

Before one try to lead a group of people, she should lead herself.
Being the leader of oneself is not an easy task as you might think.
Being discipline is also a task of leading oneself.

Vince Lombardi
Leaders aren't born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work. And that's the price we'll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal.

You can start with organizing yourself everyday.
Make an arrangement or what you must do everyday.

Graeme Edwards
It's not the plan that is important, it's the planning

And follow that for a whole three months.
Give littke rewards when you succeed doing it for one day or one week.
And give your self a big reward for finishing the 3 months program :)

But wait, it's not finished.... yet
Once you had tap in to the habit, you will grow your own self confidence.
If you can do this, you can do almost everything in your life.
Including leading other people..... (that's the goal, isn't it?)

Now, it's time to analyze what you have done for the past 3 months.
What will happen in the first day?
You will feel awkward at first, and try to find excuses not to do things that you have previously arranged. There will be excuses like, "I can do that tomorrow, it's not that important to do it now". Then you will postpone it to tomorrow and then to the day after tomorrow....

Sounds familiar?
That is what we call failing to lead oneself, no discipline.

Clint Eastwood
It takes tremendous discipline to control the influence, the power you have over other people's lives.

And then at the very end you will feel guilty for not doing very well.
But please, this is a process that anyone has to go through.
Enjoy the process and learn from it.

Gene Mauch
You can't lead anyone else further than you have gone yourself.

John C. Maxwell
A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way

What will you learn from the experiment?
First, the planning has to be good, because you are the one who knows all about yourself, your jobs, your situation. In other words, you take control of your own life. You know what is important and what is not, what is urgent and what is not, everything. Take responsibility of your life.

Second, you have gone through the process, so you will know when to change the plan and when the plan is not changeable, but don't forget to be flexible in everything you do.

Third, acknowledge the problems you had in the process because it's likely to happen again when you try to lead people. Like the one when you try to postpone something, review why? is it not important enough to be done? Or doing it make you somehow feel....? that you have to postpone it again and again, or you are just being lazy..
Hehehe... there's no cure for that.

Last but not least, keep learning and keep the habit also. You can make the habit of checking this blog every week so that you can learn more stuff about leadership.

P.S : Please feel free to post comment especially if you had more things to learn from the experiment and want to share it with the others.
